Panda™ Licorice

Lakukka® by Panda Licorice is an iconic floral-shaped confection that has been familiar to Finnish consumers for over fifty years. Recognized as a pioneer of confectionery design, it was awarded the Design from Finland mark in 2023, the first confectionery design to receive the honor.

To celebrate this iconic licorice, Panda invited three Finnish illustrators, Sofia Pusa, Matti Pikkujämsä, and Jirka Väätäinen, to reinterpret Lakukka® as a visual artwork. The project explored how a familiar confection could be transformed into a playful visual experience that highlights both its form and flavour.

Sofia’s artwork, Liquorice Dream, was inspired by the flower-like shape of Lakukka® and reimagines it as a surreal liquorice world. Oversized blooms, floating sweets, and whimsical shifts in scale create a dreamlike environment that celebrates the sensory and visual richness of the confection.

Through her imaginative approach, Sofia turns Lakukka® into a dynamic, engaging visual world that reflects Panda’s playful identity and elevates the product as both a design icon and a source of creative storytelling.
