Sofia was invited to give a talk at We Love Graphic Design festival in Copenhagen. She talked about the inspiration and process behind her design projects using Dante’s Divine Comedy as an allegory for the creative process. Sofia was part of an amazing group of speakers together with Mads Berg, Ulrike Rausch, Mikkel Lemvig and Wilfrid Wood.

Sofia Pusa was honoured to be part of the jury at the Best of Finnish Advertising and Design Competition (Vuoden Huiput), Finland’s most significant creative design competition. She was judging in the publication category in a very good company with a bunch of talented creatives.
Sofia chatted with The Design Kids about how she developed her style as an illustrator, her typical working day and the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur among other things.
Sofia is now represented by Fillin Global for illustration and animation projects in the US. Fillin Global is a contemporary artist agency based in New York City with family members spanning the globe.
Sofia’s illustrations for the Wild Mushroom Cookbook won the Merit Award in the Illustration Annual No. 16, Professional Show. 3x3 Illustration Show is considered to be one of the top three international shows for illustration and the international panel of judges are some of the top design directors, art directors, graphic designers, editors and illustrators working today.
Sofia’s book design for the Wild Mushroom Cookbook was selected as a winner in the 2019 Applied Arts Design Awards in the category of complete book design. Applied Arts Magazine launched the Applied Arts Awards in Canada in 1992 and today they have become an international recognition of creative excellence.

Sofia’s book design for the Wild Mushroom Cookbook received a silver award at the Best of Finnish Advertising and Design (Vuoden Huiput) Competition. Grafia’s non-profit Vuoden Huiput is Finland’s most significant creative design competition, which was founded by designers themselves in 1980. The annual event aims to raise the quality of design, strengthen creativity and originality and to promote designers’ expertise.
Sofia’s book design for the Wild Mushroom Cookbook was selected as one of The Most Beautiful Books of the Year 2018 in Finland: “This is a delightfully anarchic approach on the theme of a common cookbook.” The Most Beautiful Books of the Year have been chosen in Finland annually since 1947 and the collection is on display every year in Finland and abroad in international festivals and competitions.

Sofia’s creation, in collaboration with the photographer Atte Tanner, Karkkikauppa.wtf is the winner of a 2017 ADC Silver Cube Award from the One Club, in the category of Design. The ADC Annual Awards is the oldest continuously running industry award show in the world and the awards were presented during Creative Week in New York.
Sofia’s swan illustration won the campaign picture competition organized by Helsinki Book Fair, the largest book event in Finland. In honour of the Finland 100 centenary the theme of the book fair was Finland, so Sofia chose swan, the national bird of Finland, as the illustration topic. There’s also a bigger story about tolerance and empathy behind the illustration.
